Overview
This category was dedicated to the expression of choral music across four classes where:
• Class 1 - Children’s Choirs (12 years and under)
• Class 2 - High School Choirs (13-19 years)
• Class 3 - Adult Choirs (20 years and above)
• Class 4 - Community Choirs (no age limits but restricted to community, church and other like groups)
In this category, a choir was to prepare a program of 4 songs not exceeding 15 minutes. No MAJOR costume changes were allowed during the program. The songs were expected to be appropriately choreographed and conducted.
The program for 2015 was as follows:
1. Spiritual
2. Jamaican Folk Song
3.Popular and Modern Muisc
4. Own Choice
The Dr. Olive Lewin Award hereafter will be awarded by different means and not through the choir fest category. In spite of this, The Mount Alvernia & Cornwall College Singers was the first choir to achieve success in this category in the year 2011. The choir members, their staff advisors and coaches all worked very assiduously during the 2012-2015 seasons, and as such were able to cop this coveted title/award for four consecutive years/seasons. With the help of God, and the continued support of fans, parents, staff advisors and of course the members, we look forward to many more successful years together in performance.
